On the edge of your seat puts this 45-minute Dutch-Frisian poetry-music production by Artvark and ‘Poet of Fryslân’ Nyk de Vries, commissioned by Poetry International. The musical flexibility of Artvark and the narrative power of the poetry of Nyk de Vries promise a special theatrical experience in which language and music carry, reinforce and merge each other in a poetry-music production that extends beyond what language and music can separately: imagine Glass meets Tom Waits / Nick Cave. Artvark consists of Rolf Delfos, Bart Wirtz (both alto sax), Mete Erker (tenor sax) and Peter Broekhuizen (baritone sax). Nyk de Vries is a much sought-after literary performer who regularly combines music and images with his poetry.
