Pitou, GoYa Quartet & Artvark Saxophone Quartet - Babooshka (Kate Bush) - Concertgebouw Sessions
Three Dutch stars coming from the various fields of classical, pop and jazz music on one stage! The GoYa Quartet Amsterdam, vocalist Pitou and the Artvark Saxophone Quartet: they play their own music and let the musical genres merge in surprising musical encounters.
The GoYa Quartet Amsterdam was born in 2014 and is formed by Sylvia Huang, Mirelys Morgan Verdecia, Saeko Oguma and Honorine Schaeffer. These four young musicians from respectively Belgium, Cuba, Japan and France, found each other in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, of which they are part, and have forged close ties on the basis of musical affinity and deep friendship. Their repertoire is very diverse, ranging from Haydn and Schubert to Ravel and Bartók.
Pitou blessed with a rare angelic voice and extraordinary songcraft, Amsterdam-born Pitou did not discover the world of popular music until her late teens. Her classical background can be heard in her songs, mixed with influences from all over the world. Pitou is characterized by her exceptional voice, unique compositions and the use of vocal harmonies as an instrument in itself.
Artvark Saxophone Quartet away with chairs! Away with music stands! Artvark moves! Artvark stands for innovative original compositions, strong individual soloists and the adventurous groove of four saxophones. Rolf Delfos (alto sax), Bart Wirtz (alto sax), Mete Erker (tenor sax) and Peter Broekhuizen (baritone sax) blend their different backgrounds to form a unanimous, creative and unique sound; the sound of Artvark.
